The boys went to school today! They all gave it a thumbs up! The school is a small private school (cost is what you would pay in the US for a similar school) that caters to mainly international folks who are temporarily relocated in Toulouse for work (mostly Airbus). They currently have maybe 40 students, ages 2-11. Right now they have 12 different nationalities represented. They also have some local French students whose parents wanted a smaller class size and/or English language.
The first half of the day of study is English, the second half is in French. They had 3 recesses today, which I love! It's a mudpit right now but they believe outside play is a priority so we have to provide rain boots. They also wear little slippers inside that are never for outside.
They serve a tradtional French lunch at school. The lunch is in courses, on china, and they use glass drinking glasses. Friday they had eggplant as the main dish, in some kind of tomato based vegetable sauce. Today was chicken. They also have a course of cheese and bread.
The kids liked it! They say they want to go back! Theyre pretty tired, tho! We havent shaken our jet lag yet.
They say their best part of the day was feeding the goats!
SO glad they loved school. Three recesses, play in the mud, and real food--what's not to like?
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me that they kkew a kid at Lee that had to bring mud shoes as well. I like that. I know its so hard and kids and especially teachers when they dont get enough recess time!
DeleteI know you would have loved to have gotten to do thise things when you were teaching! Abe and beck complained they didnt like lunch. Its gonna get a whole lot more french than chicken and pasta. I disnt have much sympathy today!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they had a good day! Sounds like a great school.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest Amber, it aint no First Baptist MDO, but it will do. Their teachers here won't call me in 10 years if they see one of my kids smoking or driving too fast and won't be at my kids' weddings, but they have goats, and that heals the hurt a little bit.
DeleteExample given, Ms Debbie just emailed everyone inviting them to Church Sunday and telling us she can't wait to see all the kids tomorrow, right after I wrote that comment to you :) you can't buy love :)
DeleteWhen we talked to the boys B told us the lunch was great, "3 courses and two of them were snacks"!!
ReplyDeleteThey seemed excited and gave us a thumbs up. B said he learned to Sat three colors in French. Pretty good. More than I know!!
I doubt every lunch is as tame as chicken and pasta, but glad they liked the bread and cheese!
DeleteThey are sooo...Brave! And handsome that pic by the stairs says it all. B looks confident yet at ease and Myer looks anxious and ready and Abe so carefree.
ReplyDeleteThey were super brave!! I have found my kids to be much more flexible and capable than i had given them credit for.
DeleteI want to teach there! Goats? Cheese and bread course? Three recesses? Yes! 🐐🧀🍞
ReplyDeleteIll see if they have an opening for you!
