Since I now have an official following of 10 and am decidedly quite famous, I have decided to share my fame. I will dedicate a post to each of my readers! Today, Debbie B., is for you!
Debbie serves in a flourishing full time ministry, has 4 top notch kids that have LOTS of activities, is a wife, an active church member, she has a lot on her plate, yet she has taken the time to follow along with our family. She loves my kids and Jesus. She has told me (and meant it) the next time I am up all night with a sick kid while Curtis is out of town and I'm contemplating how I would get all 4 of us to an ER by myself, to please call her at 3am. She will come over and stay with the others. Because of those I would take her preschool over a fancy bilingual one with goats any day (plus the French school has no Mrs. Duggan, so Im obviously out)! Thank you, Miss Debbie for your investment into our family.
The school here has been nice. Myer has a new girlfriend he says, named Flo. He isnt sure what country she is from or what language she speaks but he knows he loves her. Myer acts as if he has been there all his life and he has never met a stranger. He has fun and makes friends every where he goes. Myer's Inola class text him a picture of a sign that said they missed him, written in French. It was beyond cute and sweet! He sent them back an I love you sign, of course.
Abe also has a girl friend named Eva who is American and she follows him around giving him flowers saying "I want to play with YOU!" Abe doesnt cry going in and he says he likes it. He showed off an Avengers toy this morning to his teacher like he always did for Ms. Jenny and Tabby and she said in her British accent "Oh yes, an Aven-ja." Abe yelled "That not how you say it!! It Aveng-er!!"
Beck has found some parts challenging. I don't want to embarass him as he is lind of private but when you are a bright kid that lots of things come easy to you, it can be embarassing to be working on learning your colors and shapes when you are 7. I was a loving, supportive mom but also let him know "welcome to my whole childhood during math class." He has been a trooper about it and continues to be a kid who can play happily with anyone, anytime and enjoys playing Marvel at recess with other boys. I dont mind to see him challenged and struggling because I don't want him to grow up thinking everything should be easy and he shouldn't struggle or work hard at things. Piano (and baseball) already has helped him with that and we bring up his challenges/successes there a lot. Thank God for Ms. Sarah, piano teaching angel! Beckett enjoys school and I was proud of him telling me this morning during our forever long walk to school about his French lessons "I'm getting there!"
The lunches have gone suprisingly well. No one complains that theyre hungry after school or whines that they didn't like their lunch. There is always a part they dont like but there is enough they do like that they seem to keep a full enough belly. The do eat a big dinner every night. Beck had vanilla cream and pears for dessert yesterday at school and said it was the best dessert he ever had.
The commute to and from school is the worst. We need a double stroller in the worst way. It is about a 45 minute commute to school (it takes about 30 without the kids. Walking that far with the kids takes forever). The metro is packed at that time. We have about a 20 minute walk after the metro ride that crosses several streets. I feel like I have to hold their hands the entire time or else they'll be lost on the metro or hit by a car. It makes me think of the times we have tried walking to and from school in Inola and Ms. Amber had to pick us up on the way home. I only tried it cause Polly always seems to do it successfully (that was the first thing out of Amber's mouth, too!) but then I'm reminded she does a lot of things sucessfully that I can't!
School is good, just a hassel to get there! The 4 days a week, long days is not bad.

You better get your third hand out quick if you are going to hold each hand that needs holding. Glad the boys and their mommas are coping. Hope they know how lucky they are to get to be there!!
ReplyDeleteThey seem excited to be here. They like the metro a lot for some reason. I dont really.
DeleteGlad they are still liking school! That walk sounds no bueno! Can you guys rent a car for 3 months or is driving there crazy too??
ReplyDeleteI dont know where we would park a car. We just paid for a month of unlimited metro ($50 for me, $50 for curtis). After our 31 days of rhat i want to see how much a cab would cost of something. Its only 4 miles total or something like that.
DeleteAwe! Love reading all of the little details about the boys and how they are doing with school and this new adventure!
ReplyDeleteThey've really been troopers. I think theyre young enough its not so bad. B is generally my easiest going kid but he had the biggest adjustment. I think its just harder the older you are.
DeleteAll of the girlfriends crack me up! I'm so glad they are liking school!
ReplyDeleteAll the girlfriends are not funny!
DeleteLet's start a school just like this here in Inola!!! lol
