We rode le subway today and folks, its nothing like the subway in Inola, which i was very disappointed to discover. Much like the other subways I've ridden (London, Paris, New York) it was every woman, child, elderly for themselves. Once Curtis found the English button on the ticket purchase machine things went much better.
We rode it to the end of the line to an area that was not quaint or adorable and one might describe as slightly Eurotrashy (you knew Curtis and I would make a beeline for that area, didnt you?). We visited a school there that was very Montessori/socialisty feel goodery and I loved it! There are goats and guinea pigs! And the teacher can best be described as the French Amanda Thompson and I love her but not as much as I love the Inola version. More on the school later. If Ms. Amber could come teach it would be perfect. Or Ms. Duggan and Ms. Younger. I assume Ms. Jenny and Tabby are coming out here to teach Abe, am I right?
I hope to take more pictures next time. It was so crowded and on the way out there we had to stand the whole way. We have terrified the kids that if you step away from us on the subway that youll be lost forever and someone will sell you on the black market, so they do a great job :) 3 minutes into it it looked like theyve been riding the metro all of their lives. Someone tell Jim Loyd that the Eurotrash area had an American Guitar shop! I will see if they can fix my broken string on my guitar next week.
We need to figure out of we have to pay for the kids on the metro. We did on the way there (8 Euros) and that is a bit steep it seems to be. On the way back we didn't. No clue what the rules are.
I get this song in my head everytime I think remember I am in France:
3 dog night mama told me not to come in case the link doesn't work)
Looks so fun! Tell the boys I miss them.
ReplyDeleteBeckett said "isnt aunt ang in france with us?"
DeleteSounds exciting. Was it 8 Euro each? That is a lot and I could only ride it once. Do they have busses? Boys did not look too terrified so their trauma should subside in the next few years or so.
ReplyDeleteIt was 8 euros total. If we buy more than one pass at a time it is cheaper. It was i think 1.6 euros per one ride. So its cheaper if we buy in oacks of ten. And rhen way cheaper if the kids dont need a pass. It would be like $1 or $2. I can afford that for a while. Its like a 5 minute walk on each end of the metro to our destination. The teacher said if other parents see us walking theyll always stop and give us a ride.
ReplyDeleteI've ben keeping Colt updated on your travels. He says he really misses Beck!
ReplyDeleteWe miss all of you guys!! Tell Colt that Beck misses him, too
DeleteSchool isn't going to be the same on Tuesday. When do you think your boys will start?
ReplyDeleteThey should start on Monday, if we are all healthy and ready. Its 4:29am in Toulouse and about half of us are awake! We plan to make it at least some on Monday, jet lag, strep and God willing!
