Its been a long row to hoe with this sick business. Today with the kids at school (no school tomorrow) I (wrongly) thought today would be a good day to go out and do some shopping without the kids in tow. Curtis does nearly everything so well but contrary to his opinion on the matter, he is a terrible housewife. I am not well suited for the job myself but, wow, he would make a better ballerina I think (he, like soooo many others, doesn't read my blog, obviously). I hoped to go out and get some of the necessities we have been needing for the past week and do things like finally unpack my suitcase. I came home empty handed.
I'm 24 hours on antibiotics now. I have barely eaten since we got here (someone tell Don at church I'm giving him a run for his money on French weight loss) and I'm still way too weak and tired to go out, yet I did. I walked for hours looking for a market that was less than a mile from me. Some Canadians with a map helped me find it (The Canadian lady called out my "accent". I ain't got no accent.) By that time is was closed. I only cried for one second. There were tons of people out. Business tends to shut down from 12-2 each day and people enjoy the market, kiss and drink wine on park benches, and dine on patios. I felt very safe and often kids walk the streets and ride the metro without adults. I did find one street where I felt a little uncomfortable. I didnt blend in and they were probably just staring at me wondering what I was doing in their neighborhood. I am not making this up one of the businesses there was called "F*** N Dance." I left that street quickly.
The military groups walk around in groups of 4 with those big guns. I saw them as well when I went to Paris in 1999 at the airport and Eiffle tower. It seems they kind of double as local police as well.
Out by where the kids go to school it seems much more suburban. We are in the more downtown area.
P.S. two pretty blonde ladies have text that they love my blog but don't know how to post comments. Ill leave it alone that no brunettes have text that and ill say i am going to have my IT guy do some work to the blog and see if people can follow it. I know all 3 of you would love to do that.
