Le apartment

I will take a break from our escessive jet lag to show where we live. He are some interesting parts of our apartment. It is 1500sq ft and actually way bigger than we need. We have one bedroom we arent using and a tv room we havent and i doubt will ever use (only about half of us could even sit on the tiny couch) and an office curtis may use at some point.
We put the kids in the master because the kids room has a giant glass wall to the patio and we are day sleepers here so far.
Curtis of course pointed out that the apartment is up to no safety codes whatsoever. The "stairs" are more like ladders and there is no railing. There are 4 flights of spiral concrete steps to get to the apartment. I have taken note that being disabled or large or overweight in France would be hugely inconvenient. Curtis keeps hitting his head on the ceiling. He said "i feel like the Steve Cutsinger of France." Haha! You can see through from the bedroom through the outside and into the stair way if that makes sense. The building is probably hundreds of years old. It is impeccably clean but kind of feels dirty to me because everything is so old.

There are some thing you wouldnt normally see in the US in the apartment. Like the bathroom and toilet are in seperate rooms and there is a large photo of a woman breastfeeding in the living room. Some strange woman's portrait watches us use the bathroom and there is a cigarette ad in the bathroom. There is no dryer. The French think the dryer wears out your clothes so they dont use them (ive emptied lent traps before- i think theyre right). There is a drying rack on the rooftop patio. The washer is weird. I have a picture below. We think we used it correctly  (directions were in French).

  1. Oh my gosh! Haha! Love reading your posts! Laughing over the so called artwork that is staring you down and the exterior building architecture is just as quaint as I imagine it to be in my mind. Hang in there!

  6. Interested to know when the building was built. Lived through WWII at least, huh. Can't find an app that translates French into English? Bet there is one. I used to have one that would translate if I typed in the words!
