For Hilary H! I included some pictures of me adnce you were wanting some (that's a lie. She simply said " you must be the photographer, because you're not in many pictures). What I heard is "I want to see more of you." So here you go. I text Sam and asked her if she thought I could pull off a fedora and she said I could (she says in head bands in looks like I'm trying too hard). She says I can. I call it my European traveling hat.
We drove about 4 hours to Marseille, the second largest city in France. Its on the south side, on the Mediterranean Sea. We have a very strangly named Nissan SUV and its a sweet ride. It beeps at you if you veer across lanes and I thought it would really help Curtis' driving. I forgot beeping sounds don't bother him. So now I have to be on a crazy ride and listen to beeping.
On the way we stopped for a picnic, still enjoying French baguettes with everything we have. Curtis found some cheese and smoked meats that do not need refrigeration and he packed it up to bring along.
On the way we saw multiple sheep herds and their shepherds! Each sheep was wearing a cowbell. It sounded so crazy. I had no idea that was still so prominent here.
Aftet our picnic we climbed a mountain! You know anytime Curtis plans a trip there will be some kind of extreme sport involved. It was slightly terrifying and the pictures do not show how truly steep and crazy it was. It was listed online as an "easy" hike. I guessas far as mountain climbing goes it was! We had a really good time.
Then we made it to Marseille and there was serious hijinks and we may or may not have lost Curtis for a solid hour and a half in the dark on the streets of Marseille when he ran ahead to find the hotel before they closed the front desk. Long story short, the Marseille Police were kind enough to give us a ride to a new hotel they found for us. Honestly, it was a bit of a drag, but thankful for the guys in blue and this swanky joint that is $50 cheaper than the other place anyway.
I'm hoping for slightly less hijinks tomorrow. Just slightly less, though.
P.S. blogger is being nutty and I don't know why some pictures are upside down. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteIm bringing blazers back, too. Im all about blazers now.
DeleteGreat pics again and it looks like you are having a great time! But too bad you had to leave the Middle Ages but I guess the Renaisance was good too!
ReplyDeleteCurtis pointed that out too! We are leaving gothic and entering renaissance.
DeleteHow about a great museum? Have not found one or no pics?
ReplyDeleteI dont know if we have any museums on the list to see. I think maybe some art museums? I really prefer renaissance to gothic. We are gonna probably recalculate our trip some. Im a bit shaken up by the Marseille portion of the trip and we are running these kids ragged! Plus i love this italian hotel and want to stay longer. Gonna see what part of the trip we can change around.
DeleteThis looks like a fun trip. Glad there was exercise for the boys so they didn't develop a serious case of wigglewormitis.
ReplyDeleteWell lucky for us the adults get the wiggle worms as much as the kids!
DeleteLove all the pics, 1 1/2 hours lost in the dark stinks but I'm glad you found a place to stay!
ReplyDelete-Hilary H
Me, too! So thankful for the kindness of those officers to call around and find us a place and drive us there!
