Jardin des Plantes

For Memaw (Curtis' mom) and my Aunt Laura, who just booked flights together to come visit us for 10 days in May. We will have to bring you guys here!
We walked to the Jardin des Plantes today (I think that means garden of plants. Or botanical gardens. I dont know. Google it and let me know). They were HUGE. They also were surrounded by universities which were pretty in their own right. There were sooo many naked stutues and Myer could not have gotten a bigger kick out of it. He ran around yelling "I can see his booty!" Curtis always laughs at me when we travel because he thinks I'm too redneck and southen just because he had to translate for me in California once (they didn't know who "y'alls" was and asked "who is he?"). One time in Seattle I called 911 because there was a suspicious box in a park and later I discovered it was art. He always calls me "Crocodile Dundee" because in NYC I walked around smiling at people saying "Hi, how are ya?" to everyone and the topless art in our hotel made my jaw drop open in shock (to quote "My Cousin Vinny" to Curtis- "Oh yeah, you blend"). Well, Myer doesnt fall far from the tree! He ran around saying in his best okie-bonics "Mom look! He is NAKED!" We keep it classy.
There were cobble stone walkways clearly not made for strollers, ducks, duck houses, chickens, roosters, tons of folks picnicking, ponies, a guy playing what I believe to be called a victrolla?, bridges, fountains and all the naked statues a Midwestern gal and her 5 year old son could hope for.
It was a fun time. The play ground was closed for renovations but it looked close to completion so maybe next time!

  1. Again, great pics
One looks kind of like The Pioneer Woman in Ponds City. I can identify with Myer and you. I am just in awe of old places!

  2. Very pretty. I wish Myer could write a blog. It would probably be very entertaining.

  3. Wow!!! The church pictures and the garden pictures are awesome! And we finally have photographic evidence that you are actually there Kendall, and not just reporting from home. Myer needs to learn the French word for "booty" (derriere??) so he can blend in:)

    1. I think a lot more than derriere is keeping us from blending in! I finally just started asking curtis and others to take my picture because clearly no one was going to! These are the only two!

  4. Haha! Just read thru a few posts with Connor to share your adventures with him. He laughed at the naked statues and I told Matt everyone appears to be enjoying life and not staring at their phones. He said he could handle that but didn't think I could, ha! Loved the pic of the family all together!

    1. We are the opposite here- Curtis even looks at his phone walking down the street! It is a slower, more relaxed pace here. It is refreshing.
